Chardonnay

Cosentino Winery

We were immediately greeted by Steve with a big smile. He took our group to a semi-private room to the right of the entrance. We all got the special reserve tasting and enjoyed all the reds - so much that I ended up buying a bottle of each one, oops! The tasting pours were very generous.

Robert Craig Wine Cellars

When you go wine tasting in major vineyards a lot is lost when tasters serve big parties or lots of people unless you have a private tour but Robert Craig was excellent. It was a small building that catered to small groups and our taste master Jeff was the best maestro yet. He broke it down to us and told us about every vineyard region in this area, dropping vital wine knowledge in our brains and we learned so much as rookie winos. Not only did he drop beverage knowledge he also helped guide our hunger palate as well, letting us know the ins and outs of what's good food and whats a tourist trap in Napa.If you love terroir driven red wines, especially Cabs, you will find Robert Craig wines to be exceptionally good with much character.

Sterling Vineyards

The brilliant white stucco stands out dramatically against the rugged Mayacamas and Vaca mountain ranges that flank each side of Napa Valley. Mount Saint Helena makes a lovely distant backdrop. The tour is self guided so it's at your own pace and the gondola ride is unique for the area. It's also one of only wineries that's on a hill in the middle of Napa Valley so the views are to die for.
My only suggestion would be (if you enjoy wine clubs) to join the wine club before you go. You can get on the gondola for free for up to 4 people and the tour is included as well. That pays for one of your months of wine right there.
Then, you get access to the VIP tasting room which is fantastic.

McGrail Vineyards

A nice find as we were wine tasting in Livermore last weekend. As you drive into the parking lot, you immediately forget about everything since the grounds are so gorgeous. There's even an outside patio where you can enjoy your wine and a packed lunch you may have brought with you. The tasting room is HUGE!

The staff was super friendly and helpful, especially since we'd never been to McGrail before. Enjoyed the '08 Picazo Merlot and the '08 Picazo Proprietary Red.

Everett Ridge Vineyards & Winery

One thing about this winery...it has a wonderful view of the entire valley. Whether you are sitting out at the tables or inside doing a tasting. Staff is very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. I was a fan of quite a few of the wines. What stuck out for me was the Zin-a and the Diablita Red Blend and the Diablita Blanca.

Oak Mountain Winery

Another stop on the DePortola Wine Trail. I wish I had the opportunity to walk around the grounds here and check them out, but time was pressing and we had more wineries to get to. Outside there is a very large patio with a wonderful view. There was a pizza booth to purchase a snack and a live band playing. I hope to stop by again next trip to the area. A really nice, friendly atmosphere to relax. Growing classic warm weather Mediterranean varieties of grapes which include Mourvedre, Viognier, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Zinfandel and Sangiovese Brunello are keystone wines at this picturesque winery. Also included are some unique wine varietals such as Tempranillo, Primativo and our a Pinotage. I hope to meet the winemaker Stephen Andrews next time I am in Temecula Wine Country.

D.R. Stephens Estate

n 1996, Don and Trish Stephens found their 35-acre property on Howell Mountain Road in the Saint Helena area of the Napa Valley. The old olive orchard that had been planted in the early 1850s and neglected since the early 1900s was a beautiful attraction to the land. After relocating most of this still-producing olive orchard, they made room to plant the seven and one-half acre Moose Valley Vineyard. In 2002, the first wine from this property was released, the D. R. Stephens Estate 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon, Moose Valley Vineyard.

Omega Vineyards & Winery

Located in the beautiful San Joaquin Valley, gateway to the world-renowned Sierra Foothills and “Gold Country.” This winery honors the beauty and excellence synonymous with this extraordinary place. An 85-acre estate, guests enjoy a blend of award-winning wines and a flavor of Greece radiating throughout.

Fog Crest Vineyard

Following a lifelong fascination for food and wine, James and Rosalind Manoogian established Fog Crest Vineyard in 1998 in the Russian River Valley area of Sonoma County, California. As a restaurateur in San Francisco, James had had close proximity to the great wine-growing regions surrounding the city, and it allowed he and his wife to become knowledgeable about wine, how it accompanied fine dining, and where each varietal excelled locally. Today, Fog Crest Vineyard produces less than 2,500 cases annually of limited production, vineyard-designate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that show off the classic terrior of this small Russian River Valley vineyard.
