Pinot Noir

Davenport & Company

In 2003 Margaret Davenport took her career in a new direction by starting her own business, Davenport and Company. Under this label she has been making Russian River Pinot Noir, and, more recently, Zinfandel from her Rockpile vineyard, while also providing consulting services for winemakers and winery owners. Margaret directs small-lot production of Cabernet and other Sonoma County varietals at several wineries.

L'Angevin Wines

The concept for L'Angevin Wines is to seek out mature vineyards in cool climates and combine them with diligent vineyard care and classical winemaking techniques. L'Angevin began as a joint venture between Alan Peirson and Robbie Meyer who met at Peter Michael Winery where Robbie was the enologist and assistant winemaker, and Alan was the estate/project manager. Joining the venture in 2002, making L'Angevin an entirely family business are Lesley Warner-Peirson and Shannon Meyer.

With the 2007 vintage, the winery has a companion label, Peirson Meyer.

Point Reyes Vineyards & Winery

Point Reyes Vineyards, family owned and operated on scenic Highway 1, overlooking the beautiful Point Reyes National Seashore, is 40 miles north of San Francisco. For three generations, our family has proudly farmed the rich, fertile lands of Marin County. In 1990, our love of fine wines led to the planting of a small vineyard.

August Briggs Wines

The tasting room is at the end of the main road in Calistoga, you cant miss it. Its a smaller place with three bars for tasting, all in the same room. Their dog would greet you when you walked in which was kind of nice. I really liked this place because it was smaller, they took their time with your and would answer any questions you had. The other wines were very good too but it was our first winery on the trip so we just picked up the one bottle. We spent about 45 minutes there and will definitely stop back in next time in Calistoga.

J. Lohr Winery

Today, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines includes more than 900 acres of cool-climate estate vineyards in Monterey County, with an emphasis on Chardonnay, Riesling, Valdiguié and Pinot Noir, 2,000 acres in Paso Robles dedicated to Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, Petite Sirah and other red varietals, and 33 acres in Napa Valley, highlighting Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc. From this rich and diverse palette of sustainably farmed estate fruit, J. Lohr crafts wines showcasing bold, concentrated flavors and a vibrant sense of place.

Scott Cellars

At only 900 cases Scott cellars is one of the smallest wineries around. The whites, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay are crisp clean wines that pair beautifully with food. The reds are big and bold with surprisingly smooth, silky tannins. The Pinot Noir is elegance in a glass, while the Syrah is firm in structure and loaded with dark fruit flavors. The most unique wine is Cuvee J. It combines Zinfandel with Syrah and balances high alcohol with tremendous fruitiness and firm acidity.

John Tyler Wines

This is a small and unassuming tasting room with really friendly and welcoming employees. The bar was standing room only but we were quickly greeted and well taken care of. The wines are INSANELY amazing and fairly priced.
A reserve tasting is $20 and they will refund half of your tasting fee if you purchase a few bottles -- I don't like this new trend of not refunding your tasting fee with purchase, but at least you get $10 back.

School House Vineyard

John and Mancy now offer 4 wines:
Chardonnay
Pinot noir
Zinfandel Mescalanza (a blend)
Syrah Mescalanza ( a blend )

All 4 are great. You will be tasting at their house, by appointment only. It is a wonderful intimate experience. The Pinot is amazing.
