Odonata Wines Salinas

Denis, Claire and others at Odanata Winery

Odonata Wines in Salinas, California is a small family winery. They work closely with the growers to ensure the highest quality wines from the vines to the glass. Their credo is blending of old-world winemaking methods and attitudes with new learning and a continuous search for improvement. The winemaker, Denis Hoey, creates wines that are soft, supple, and feature subtle complexity. Denis and his wife Claire run Odanata Winery together. Inspired by the traditional French style, Denis produces wines that are designed to be food-friendly. They are balanced in fruit, acidity, alcohol, and wood, with flavors and aromas that are cohesive with a lengthy finish. They will always be handmade in small batches to exemplify the unique qualities of the varietal and vineyard. ~

Iverson Vineyards & Winery

If you are wondering around El Dorado County and looking for a nice place for a picnic, Iverson is one of the places you should try. They have plenty of tables on their patio. The wine is pretty good too! The people behind the bar are friendly, so don't be afraid to ask questions or make conversation.

Amador Cellars

Amador Cellars is a unique winery located in the heart of Amador County's lush Shenandoah Valley wine country. Built in 2003 of rice straw and concrete the winery and tasting room conveys Old World architecture and style that emphasizes simplicity, utility and function. Its two foot thick and sixteen foot tall walls impart mass and depth while the roof is covered in corrugated steel that was allowed to rust naturally giving the structure a timeless quality. Amador Cellars focus their attention on varieties that do well in Amador’s warm climate -- Zinfandel, Italian and Rhone Valley varieties.

Boyd MacDonald Wines

Bottle of Boyd MacDonald and a wine glass

Boyle MacDonald Wines began when husband and wife team, Craig MacDonald and Kate Boyle MacDonald, planted their family estate Napa Valley Vineyard to Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The portfolio of offerings grew as Kate and Craig pursued personally farming and sourcing from additional Sierra Foothills vineyards. The portfolio includes a diverse selection of Estate Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, as well as Sierra Foothill Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Merlot, Sangiovese and Montepulciano. In addition to varietal bottlings and lovely Red Blends, Boyle MacDonald has become well known for producing Provence style Dry Rosés and also for producing interesting and rare white wines from red varietals.

The Winemaker
Winemaker Kate Boyle MacDonald has over twenty years of experience in the cellar.  Kayte started as a apprentice/cellar hand in 1999. Serving as winemaker for a few wineries, today Kate is a now seasoned Winemaker. Kate’s talents quickly been acknowledged by her peers and allowed to thrive in Calaveras County. While she personally planted and tends the family estate vineyard in Napa Valley, her winemaking is rooted in California's Foothills of the Sierras. Having grown up in Germany, France, and all over the US, Kate uses the incredible California new world fruit, to create wines in the traditional old world style, exhibiting elegance, finesse and balance.

Trentadue Winery

Trentadue Winery is a great experience from start to finish. This house of ports was impressive from the moment we pulled in the parking lot, which is much larger than most other wineries. As you walk towards the tasting room one can't help but be drawn to the beautiful grounds. There is a large picnic area which can be rented for parties or weddings and would serve as a wonderful backdrop for either. Trentadue was one of the better wineries we went to in Geyserville. Their grounds are really nice for a picnic and the wine was pretty good too.

Falkner Winery

The views from this winery are beautiful, so we got some great pictures. No wonder people have weddings here!Busy on a Sunday afternoon but Super friendly. Shelly waved us on over and introduced us to the Falkner wines. Enjoyed the reds...especially the Cabernet and the two Meritage blends. Chose the 7 wine tasting for $15. Never had to pay up front like this up in the Central Coast wineries where we frequent. Your tastings are also usually free up there if you buy a few bottles. Falkner does give a $5 coupon toward your purchase of a bottle and you do get to keep the glasses.

Cheval Winery

6 acre property with a 2 acre vineyard with a modern tasting room, show horses and alpacas on property. Open Wednesday -Sunday, dog friendly, food truck Fridays, and live music on weekends.
