Gekkeikan Sake

Sake Label

Japan's tradition of sake making began more than 2,000 years ago shortly after rice cultivation was introduced from China. Though the first few centuries yielded a beverage quite unlike that of today, years of experience perfected brewing techniques and increased sake's overall appeal and popularity. In 1637, Gekkeikan's founder, Jiemon Okura established his sake brewery in the town of Fushimi, a location well-known for its high quality of water. Access to the ideal ingredients combined with a convenient location enabled Okura and his successors' business to thrive in the years that followed. To meet this increase in demand, Gekkeikan Sake (USA) , Inc. was established in Folsom, California in 1989. Today, Gekkeikan's passion for pleasing the sake connoisseur remains unchanged.

Gelfand Vineyards

Memory updated

Established in 2000, Dresser Winery is nestled 1,100 feet above sea level on rolling hills with limestone and calcareous soils similar to those in Bordeaux and the Rhone Valley. Overlooking Paso Robles, this vineyard spans 25 acres, with half dedicated to seven varietals. The winery aims to craft wines that are memorable not only for their taste but also for the experiences they offer, whether enjoyed at the vineyard or at home with loved ones and friends. Dresser Winery prides itself on providing a personal touch and engaging experiences, which are central to its identity.

Kory and Catherine discovered Paso Robles years ago and found it to be the perfect place to chase their dreams and raise their family. Enchanted by the town's charm, they bought their first property, a 2-acre plot with a home needing Catherine's architectural expertise and 1.5 acres of Zinfandel for Kory to learn vineyard management and winemaking. Named Dudley Vineyard after their beloved dog, this initial venture became an excellent introduction to wine. A chance encounter with a local winemaker led them to Gelfand Vineyards, where Kory's passion for wine was nurtured. He worked alongside the previous owner, learning the craft of making full-bodied red wines, a hallmark of Gelfand Vineyards.

In 2022, the Burkes renamed their venture Dresser Winery, paying homage to the area known as Dresser Ranch. Their focus remains on producing wonderful full-bodied reds from estate-grown grapes, with new varietals from some of Paso's best vineyards. The Burkes emphasize providing a unique experience at Dresser Winery, hoping guests leave with unforgettable memories of both the wine and the tasting experience.

Dresser Winery continues to produce small-batch, high-quality grapes handcrafted into premium wines available only at the winery or through their website. Guests are invited to visit Dresser Winery and create their own cherished memories.

George Wine Company

pouring wine

George Levkoff had his wine epiphany when a friend brought a 1991 and 1992 Williams Selyem Rochioli Vineyard Pinot Noir to share at dinner. Four years later, he left his job as a bond trader on Wall Street and headed west to Sonoma. He interned at Williams Selyem from 1999 to 2002, learning the winemaking process.

Gershon Bachus Vintners

Painting by Agata Zaborowski - woman in bat with glass of wine

Gershon Bachus Vinters is located on De Portola Dr., across from Cougar Winery. Gershon Bachus is a wine producing estate that's located at the top of a hill, providing gorgeous 360 views of Temecula Valley. You drive up a huge hill and park your car in the gravel driveway. It's home to the "seated tasting." You walk in, are warmly greeted by Kenny and/or Christina, have a seat, and enjoy some of the better red wines I've found in Temecula. GBV is more spacious than the typical tasting room experience, so it's great for groups. Tastings are $22 each and the number of wines offered in the tasting is generous.

Giessinger Winery

cheese and crackers with glass of white wine

Girard's goal is to highlight the flavors of Napa Valley and its rich, ripe grapes. A small portion of the winery's portfolio also comes from grapes grown in Sonoma's upscale Russian River Valley, where cool weather offers ideal conditions for Chardonnay.

Girard Winery

wine and cheese

After a day of trekking around Yountville and St Helena I wound up at Girard Winery. Girard stays open till 7, very smart move I must say as they get the overflow of folks looking for a place to continue their wine tasting adventures or a place to grab drinks before heading off to a nice dinner. It's not a showy vineyard or winery so if you are looking for the fluff you will not find it (although it is a nice tasting room). What you will find are some REALLY GREAT WINES.
