This is the first of a series of wine reviews we have decided to call "Zip Sips". We will be reviewing wines up and down the state of California, featuring wineries that have partnered up with our CaCorks Winery Experience as well as wines from wineries I have simply enjoyed meeting the owners and winemakers. I want to introduce our first wine from Moravia Wines located in Fresno, CA. I really enjoyed my visit with winemaker and co-proprietor Rich Hamond. I enjoyed the wines, the wine talk, and a little wine grape-growing history from the Central Valley. I selected two of Rich's wines to bring home. The first is a red blend and the other is a Symphony (love the bouquet) but that will be the subject of a future Zip Sip.
Hygge
The word Hygge (pronounced "hoo-gah") is a Danish word that translates as "coziness", but it is not just about sitting around a warm fire, light or candles. Hygge is also a mindset - it's about relaxing and being kind to yourself, rather than going without certain food or drink. Hygge food is comforting and soothing, rather than healthy - think pastries, cakes, and pies. What about when you use Hygge to name or describe a wine?
Rich Hamond has produced a wonderful blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Ruby Cab. The Merlot is sweeter and softer tasting, the Cabernet Sauvignon is dry and hearty. The Ruby Cab is a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Carignan. Moravia Wines is in Fresno, CA. Stop by and tell Rich John and California Corks sent you.
