The winery is located in Fiddletown, a picturesque and sleepy town, founded around 1849, during the Gold Rush. Fiddletown is one of California's smallest AVA and is located within the larger Sierra Foothills AVA. At an elevation of 1800 feet, the vineyards have the longest growing season in Amador Country, allowing for maximum flavor concentration and exceptional balance year in and year out.Good wine is like good magic; it always tells a story, paints a picture and creates memories. Founded in 1999, proprietors Sherrie and Elliot Graham purchased a picturesque 34-acre parcel of rolling hills and sprawling oak and pine trees. The property, which is a portion of the old Meyer’s Ranch, was bare with the exception of a historic barn, once a notable stopping point for miners to change horses en route to Placerville.

More than a few small wineries have started in a garage, but we may be the only Winery to begin that way, move on to bigger and better quarters, and still be in a garage. Founded in 1980 in a small garage on the outskirts of town, in 1982 the Winery moved to its present location, the historic Miners Foundry Garage, on Spring St in downtown Nevada City. Remarkably, the Winery is located less than two blocks from where the original Nevada City Winery stood over a century ago. The Winery was begun by Allan Haley, a Nevada County native with a European wine education and a dream of bringing winemaking back to our region. In 1880 there were over 300 acres of grapes in the County. In 1980 when the Winery opened there was one small vineyard, recently planted. Twenty years later there are again well over 300 acres of grapes and the wine industry is flourishing once more.

Located in the heart of Amador County, Scott Harvey Winery offers a truly unique and personal experience for wine lovers. Unlike the typical tasting rooms found in Napa, visitors who are fortunate enough to meet Scott Harvey himself will be invited to his home, where he and his wife Jana provide a relaxed, conversational wine tasting. Scott, with decades of winemaking expertise, shares his vast knowledge and stories while pouring some of his finest creations. Both Scott and Jana are warm, welcoming hosts, making every visit a memorable one. And, of course, their excellent wines are the highlight of the experience!
