Quaint wine tasting room included cheese, croutons and chocolates to taste with their port. Seems to be the only tasting room serving mature wines from 2003 and 2004. The 2004 Legacy Cab was awesome. If they were charging, I didn't notice since we purchased several bottles. Open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Robert Morse, the founder of MORSE WINES, purchased the estate property in 1999. His desire was to create a place where lovers of fine wine could find exceptional values in wines that best express the terroir of our region. He selected varietals that would thrive in the region, and which therefore had the best potential for producing world class wines. Morse Wines picturesque, serene property is located near the border of Amador and El Dorado Counties. It is at approximately a 2300 foot elevation, with groves of pine trees as well as ancient oaks.
Drytown Cellars is a must go to spot when you are in the Plymouth area doing some winetasting.This sweet little find because the people are the most casual and friendly folks.The owner & winemaker, Allen and his wife Suzanne are such a pleasure.The wines are some of the best out there for the price. Especially fond of the Reserve Zin,Cab Franc,Red on Red and Primitivo

The winery tasting room is modeled after the home built by Tom's grandfather in the early 1900s and sits on property owned by the Dillians since 1917. Everyone working there was extremely friendly and generous with the servings. The tasting room has an open layout with a decent-sized counter and several tables. The tasting room is warm and inviting with a rustic feel. Barrels line the walls and serve as the base of the tables

In 1994 Boston wine lover and visionary Robert Smerling fell in love with Santino wines and decided to buy the place. His goals were clear, to preserve the ancient vines of the Shenandoah Valley and produce award winning wines, putting Amador on the world wine scene. New vineyards were planted with clones of Barbera, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo and Muscat Canelli, all classic Italian varietals. Each vineyard is small with low yields giving intense flavors.
A 12,000 Sq ft world class facility, is perched on a hillside and has spectacular veiws of the nerby vineyards of the Sierra Foothills. Using the natural terrain, the architectural design of the winery was constructed on 2 plateaus, thus creating, "gravity feed" as part of the winemaking process. This facility, which features 2 art galleries, is built to enable the winey to produce a maximum of 16,000 cases annually.

All of Amador County is pretty laid back for their tastings. Sobon is one of the more welcoming wineries. You can tell they (and those at the sister winery, Shenandoah) really love wine, the location, and meeting new people. They wines are tasty too! They are probably the most popular winery in Plymouth. They are like Livermore's Wente winery of Amador: popular, but not the best in the biz. No, wait. I disagree with my earlier Self. The service is great here, and though I'm not a fan of ALL of their wines, their Tannat was good. We will make another trip after the holidays and ask to taste all their reserve wines.
