Amador Wine Country

Morse Wines

Robert Morse, the founder of MORSE WINES, purchased the estate property in 1999. His desire was to create a place where lovers of fine wine could find exceptional values in wines that best express the terroir of our region. He selected varietals that would thrive in the region, and which therefore had the best potential for producing world class wines. Morse Wines picturesque, serene property is located near the border of Amador and El Dorado Counties. It is at approximately a 2300 foot elevation, with groves of pine trees as well as ancient oaks.

Vino Noceto

Established in 1987 by Suzy & Jim Gullett, Vino Noceto is a small, family-run vineyard and winery, renowned for premium Sangiovese wine. A pioneer in the renaissance of this noble Tuscan varietal, we now produce eight different Sangiovese wines Chianti, Brunello, and Super Tuscan styles, and have 25 acres of estate-grown grapes. Larger groups of 8 or more & limousines require appointments to ensure that Vino Noceto are staffed to provide the highest quality service and a memorable tasting experience.

Shenandoah Vineyards

Leon and Shirley founded Shenandoah Vineyard in 1977. They were one of the first four wineries in Amador County's now well known Shenandoah Valley appellation. From the first offering of 1,200 cases, the winery has continued to thrive, adjusting the portfolio of wines over the years. It is now producing about 25,000 cases per year. Taste the reserve reds for $5 and get to keep the glass. This Vineyard seems to be the last stop, we watched the sunset come down over the Vineyards as they were closing, simply beautiful. Organic wines and passionate wine makers. sting the portfolio of wines over the years. It is now producing about 25,000 cases per year. Demand continues to grow as a result of skilled winemaking, marketing, and strong family commitments to quality and service. Taste the reserve reds for $5 and get to keep the glass. This Vineyard seems to be the last stop every time were in Amador County. We watched the sunset come down over the Vineyards as they were closing, simply beautiful.

Montevina Winery

This is a fun place to try some of the Terra d'Oro and Montevina wines you normally wouldn't find elsewhere to purchase. For everyday drinking, I'm a fan of these wines. These folks produce a lot of wines and it is a bit hard to do everyone right when you produce so many. However, you will find a few gems and it is a lovely winery to visit.

Sobon Estate

All of Amador County is pretty laid back for their tastings. Sobon is one of the more welcoming wineries. You can tell they (and those at the sister winery, Shenandoah) really love wine, the location, and meeting new people. They wines are tasty too! They are probably the most popular winery in Plymouth. They are like Livermore's Wente winery of Amador: popular, but not the best in the biz. No, wait. I disagree with my earlier Self. The service is great here, and though I'm not a fan of ALL of their wines, their Tannat was good. We will make another trip after the holidays and ask to taste all their reserve wines.

Wilderotter Vineyard & Winery

The scenery is great, there is outdoor seating for a picnic and a fabulous bottle of wine to accompany it. Beautiful tasting room and a wonderful selection of wines. If you like white wine you are in for a treat with the viognier, sauvignon blanc and chardonnay. On the red side they have tempranillo, barbera, syrah, mourvedre and zin.

Terre Rouge & Easton Wines

Nice tasting room with a wide selection of wines is what you will find at Terre Rouge & Easton Wines. There was a wine festival that weekend and all the tasting rooms were bustling. Whats nice about Terre Rouge is that they actually had the space to accommodate everyone. So many wines, so little time.
