wyatt Oaks Winery

With over 25 years of experience as an arborist, Gavin McClain and wife Stacy started Wyatt Oaks Winery in 2009, naming their enterprise after their first son. Since then, both their family and vintages have expanded, so that the wine collection now features both Aubrie's Reserve and Weston's Estate. In addition to growing their own grapes, Gavin's expertise also allows them to purchase the high-quality grapes other local vintners have brought to fruition, producing a greater variety within their collection.

Yoakim Bridge

Gorgeous and quaint. The 19th century Farmhouse on this 5 acre vineyard was the original house for what was once a 500 acre farm in northern Sonoma Valley. A true boutique winery, Idyllic scenery and lovely gnarly zin vines.
David and Virginia are passionate and gifted wine makers. The wine offers big bang for buck, and the club is a steal on top of already good prices. Zin, syrah, cab and petite syrah. 3000 cases a year is all they produce.

York Mountain Winery

UPDATE NOTICE
Following the liquidation of Martin & Weyrich assets no public mention was made of the fate of the historic York Mountain Winery. Sources in Paso Robles alerted redwinebuzz.com that Epoch Wines was considering purchasing historic York Mountain Winery, previously owned by Martin & Weyrich.
A source inside Epoch confirmed recently that the sale was closed on Friday July 16th. The sale price and details of the transaction were not disclosed. The source did say that an Epoch Estate Wines tasting room will be opened at York Mountain within 2-3 months. Epoch plans to renovate the historic structures and construct a new winery complex.

Yorkville Cellars

This is the place if you like the wines of Bordeaux, individually and collectively. And when I mean Bordeaux, I mean the varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. They actually had two of the white Bordeaux grapes, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillion. CARMENERE!!! With only 50 acres is California, Yorkville Cellars has 2 of them. Its pretty much gone in France and now Its all about Chile. Its an incredible wine with such vibrancy and juicy feel.

The Yribarren family produces pocket-friendly and enjoyable wines. Yribarren Family Vineyards produces several very palate-pleasing wines that include: Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Malbec (2015 took a Gold at SF wine) and San Joaquin River Syrah and a few more. All the wines are easy on the pocketbook and very enjoyable. Their tasting venue varies at this time so best to call for an appointment. Zahtila Vineyards

We tasted:
2008 Dry Creek Zin - Old vine zinfandel, fruity with oak notes. I tasted pomegranate with some spice. Very enjoyable (too bad there isn't much left!)
2008 Oak Hill Estate Zin - I liked this zin. The grapes are grown on property. Hints of vanilla & caramel with the fruit upon first whif. Then a very silky mouth feel with plum and spice. We all agreed this would pair well with eggplant or other roasted/grilled veggies.
2008 Calistoga Cab Sauvignon - The bottle we tasted had been opened late the day before which helped soften the tannins. Hints of cherry on the palate.
2006 Napa Valley Cab - I liked this more than the 2008 from Calistoga. It was balanced acidity/fruit.
2010 Michael's Muse - Delicious tawny port style wine that they had just bottled! Complex fruit, not too over-poweringly sweet. I think it had zin & petite syrah grapes (I wasn't paying as much attention). Very good!

Zanger Vineyards

Zanger Vineyards makes a number of other wines, many of them quite unconventional. They are the only winery in California that I know of that makes Mead. This is a medieval drink made out of fermented honey. Zanger also makes a number of wines made out of different fruits. Additionally, they make chocolate, candy, and dried fruits.

ZD Wines

Norman and Gino rented a small farm building in the Carneros region of Sonoma County. They purchased winegrapes, some 50-gallon oak barrels and a redwood vat. Three hundred cases of Pinot Noir and a small amount of White Riesling represented ZD's first commercial vintage in 1969. The grapes were purchased from the Winery Lake Vineyard, which had been planted a few years earlier by René di Rosa. ZD's 1969 Pinot Noir carries the historical significance of being the first wine to have a Carneros designation on the label. It states, "Made in Sonoma from grapes grown in the Carneros region of Napa." The Chardonnay winegrapes from Winery Lake Vineyard were not in production until 1971, which is the first vintage of ZD Chardonnay.

Zenaida Cellars

It all started back in 1988 when Eric’s parents purchased the land where the winery and vineyard sit today. Eric was still attending Cal Poly earning his BS in Ecology and Systematic Biology at the time but helped his dad by designing and planting the vineyard. After getting the vineyard planted and producing, Eric began to expand his wine knowledge. Biologist as his day job, Eric went back to school, attending UC Davis’s enology extension courses. Eventually, landing his first wine job with Ken Volk at Wild Horse Winery in Templeton and then moving into a position with Kendal-Jackson Winery. Eventually in 1998, Eric made the first official vintage of Zenaida Cellars and has been working on developing the wines ever since.
