Toogood Estate Wine Caves

Hidden from view off a narrow two-lane road in the heart of Fair Play, this winery takes advantage of the rocky outcroppings and protected valleys indigenous to the area. Toogood Estate Winery is unique in the Sierra Foothills because it has wine caves. There were many wines to choose from and the staff made the visit fun. They mixed in educating us about the wines and their process with jokes and kept things fun.

Rancho de Amor Vineyard & Winery

Rancho de Amor is a family owned and operated winery in Placerville, California. Tony and Sharlene Scott, owners of Rancho de Amor strive to deliver the highest quality wines, at affordable prices, which can be enjoyed daily with family and friends.  Specializing in hand crafted wines made from grapes grown on their own estate and neighboring vineyards, all of Rancho de Amor's wines are very limited in production. Rancho de Amor is located in the Sierra Foothills approximately 70 miles west of South Lake Tahoe.  Rancho de Amor's vineyard and winery are designed specifically for those wanting to escape the pressures of time and relish in a true wine tasting experience.  The winery offers very nice wines, breathtaking views, and beautifully landscaped outdoor grounds. growers in the nearby Sierra Foothills farm grapes.
Silver Fox is located near Yosemite National Park,
at an elevation of 3000 feet, where the warm days
and cool nights help the grapes develop the
complex and intense flavors needed to produce
their gold medal winning wines.

Bertagna Son Kissed Vineyard

The history of the Bertagna family farming and winemaking began centuries ago in Italy. The Bertagnas have been almond farmers for four generations, a tradition Berton Bertagna continues today.
Berton's great grandfather made wine for his friends and family in Italy and continued the practice when he immigrated to Chico through Ellis Island in 1912.
While the family continued farming almonds, the art of winemaking skipped two generations before being started again by Berton, through the encouragement of his wife, Carol.

Catano Winery

In 1990 Joe started planting a vineyard on a 40-acre parcel in Calaveras county. He planted only Portuguese varietals. In 2000 Joe started building what would become Catano Winery on the lower level and the family home up top. February 2001 Joe met Anna, asked her to be his wife in July and they entered wedded Bliss in December. In October 2002 Joe and (8 month pregnant) Anna had their first harvest in their newly bonded winery.

All grapes are hand picked, pressed, bottled, and labeled by a very supportive group of family and friends. After a hard days work, they enjoy food and wine together!Catano Winery created the brand name Quintetta because we primarily use 5 traditional Portuguese Port varietals: Tinta Cao, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Roriz, and Tinta Barroca.

David Girard Vineyards

David Girard Vineyards is nestled in the Sierra foothills near where the south fork of the American River gave up its gold in 1849. At an elevation of some 1,200 feet soil, temperature and conditions, an environment ideally suited to growing the premier grape varietals of southern France's Rhône valley.
Twenty years ago the folks at David Girard started with little more than good earth, a tolerance for risk and a willingness to learn from their mistakes. The winery has established a solid reputation for excellence and value by producing Rhône style wines in the heart of one of California's most historic regions.

Amador Cellars

Amador Cellars is a unique winery located in the heart of Amador County's lush Shenandoah Valley wine country. Built in 2003 of rice straw and concrete the winery and tasting room conveys Old World architecture and style that emphasizes simplicity, utility and function. Its two foot thick and sixteen foot tall walls impart mass and depth while the roof is covered in corrugated steel that was allowed to rust naturally giving the structure a timeless quality. Amador Cellars focus their attention on varieties that do well in Amador’s warm climate -- Zinfandel, Italian and Rhone Valley varieties.
