Spenker Winery

The 60 acre property west of Lodi has been owned and farmed by the Spenker family for more than 100 years. At a home winemaking party Chuck and Bettyann met and fell in love. They started the winery in 1994 as an outgrowth of their interest in maintaining and demonstrating the high quality of their Zinfandel grapes. Avanguardia Wines

Avanguardia logo

Welcome to Avanguardia Wines, a small, ultra-boutique winery located in Nevada City, known for producing non-traditional blended wines. 100% of their wines are proprietary blends, crafted from 2-6 different grape varieties, many of which are Italian and uncommon in California. Their tasting room is located in Grass Valley.

Avanguardia Wines stands apart by avoiding the more common varietals like Cabernet, Zinfandel, and Chardonnay. Their flagship white wine, Cristallo, features a rare grape from the Republic of Georgia. Their distinctive red, Ampio, combines the UC-patented Carmine with the French Mondeuse for a truly unique flavor. Their newest blend, Tre "T," made from Teroldego, Tempranillo, and Tannat, has already earned Gold at the San Francisco Chronicle competition.

Focusing on balance, Avanguardia crafts wines with carefully calibrated levels of alcohol, acidity, tannin, and oak, leaning more towards a European style than the bold trends often seen in California.

Flipflop Wines

Winemaker James Foster’s love for the land began as a child growing up on the family farm, the historic Roseland Plantation in Eufaula, Alabama. As a teenager, his love for the land spread to the vine: spending many summers as a “cellar rat” in various wineries, James had a full vineyard-to-bottle view of winemaking. Inspired to learn more, he studied Enology at Fresno State University, then honed his winemaking skills over the last 13 years at The Wine Group. Along the way, he has partnered with grower-winemakers from around the globe on a portfolio of varietally and regionally expressive, exceptional wines at all price points. Since 2009, James has worked with a team of winemakers on crafting flipflop wines. By collaborating closely with partner winemakers at the source, he is able to stay true to each wine’s varietal character.

We tasted three pinot's a syrah and two cabs. The three pinot's were from the same vineyard in Sonoma but from three different blocks. Three distinctly different wines. All very Burgundian in crafting but with that amazing Sonoma Coast fruit. My favorite style...French winemaking but with CA fruit! The Syrah was amazing. Once again, very French. Northern Rhone in crafting but with Bennet Valley fruit. The Cabs...well, they were quite simply amazing. Two totally different wines from two different AVA's.

Silver Wine

Who would have guessed that a kid from Amherst, Massachusetts, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences (Pre-Veterinary) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Italian from the University of Massachusetts, would end up in Santa Barbara County as an up-and-coming winemaker? Benjamin Silver did just that after catching the wine bug in 1993 at a summer job at Chicama Vineyards on Martha’s Vineyard.

Linne Calodo

When Matt and Maureen Trevisan founded Linne Calodo in 1998, they played a pivotal role in ushering in the modern wine era in Paso Robles. By the early 2000s, Paso Robles had transformed from an unproven wine region to an unstoppable force, thanks in large part to Rhône variety blends that garnered widespread critical acclaim. Linne Calodo was at the heart of this movement, and the rest is history.

This passion for the unconventional endures at Linne Calodo. The defining characteristic of all their wines can be encapsulated in one word: intentional. Matt Trevisan is far from an absentee winery owner; he is the farmer, winemaker, cover crop sower, fix-it man, amateur electrician, and sheep herder. Every Linne Calodo wine is meticulously guided from the field to the bottle under his dedicated care.

David Girard Vineyards

David Girard Vineyards is nestled in the Sierra foothills near where the south fork of the American River gave up its gold in 1849. At an elevation of some 1,200 feet soil, temperature and conditions, an environment ideally suited to growing the premier grape varietals of southern France's Rhône valley. Twenty years ago the folks at David Girard started with little more than good earth, a tolerance for risk and a willingness to learn from their mistakes. The winery has established a solid reputation for excellence and value by producing Rhône style wines in the heart of one of California's most historic regions.

Paraduxx

Indoor offers couches and casual seating throughout their modern wood paneled tasting room. Ourdoor tastings allow you to lay back on a chaise lounge and enjoy the sun and bask over the vineyards. A truly great tasting experience that is relaxed, cozy, tasty, fun, informative, and for a reasonable price. Paraduxx is the 2nd Tier (of 4) winery brand from Duckhorn with others being Decoy and Goldeneye. These are blend wines so while tasty are not yet appreciated by serious wine enthusiasts though this is changing. They do table service a little differently than most, which I enjoyed. They bring out your entire flight of tastings at the same time and give you information on each wine. I like a little more privacy to decide if I like the wine without feeling pressure. Our sommelier was really energetic and passionate about the wine - loved his interest in us and the wine.

Galleano Winery

The Historic Galleano Winery was founded in 1927 by Domenico Galleano. Remarkably, the winery complex has remained largely unchanged to this day.

Galleano Winery is notable for being the last remaining bonded, Prohibition-era winery still owned and operated by its founding family at its original location in the Cucamonga Valley. The Galleano family takes great pride in the fact that the Cantu-Galleano Ranch complex is listed as a landmark on both the California and National Register of Historic Places.

Located in Mira Loma’s Wineville area, Galleano Winery retains much of its 1927 charm. It sits at the southern fringe of the Cucamonga Valley, a region made famous for winegrowing by Secondo Guasti, who, like Domenico, hailed from northern Italy’s Piedmont region. The name "Cucamonga" translates to "sandy place," aptly describing the alluvial plain that descends from the eastern slopes of the San Gabriel Mountains.

During the 1940s, the Cucamonga Valley boasted more than 45,000 acres dedicated to vineyards and approximately 60 wineries, showcasing the area’s rich viticultural history.
