Founded in 1889, Bernardo Winery proudly stands as one of California's oldest continuously operating wineries. Family-owned and operated by the Rizzo Family since 1927, this gem is located just 25 miles north of Downtown San Diego, nestled on what was once the La Cañada de San Bernardo Spanish land grant.

Bernardo Winery has a rich history, having survived Prohibition by producing sacramental wine. Today, it continues its legacy by crafting approachable wines sourced from the lush vineyards of San Diego County.

Mayacamas Vineyards is a wine estate located in the Mayacamas Mountains that divide the Napa and Sonoma valleys. Near the top of Mount Veeder, the old stone winery was dug into the side of a dormant volcano crater in the late 19th century. Fifty-two acres of vineyards are planted on mountainsides ranging from 1,800 to 2,400 feet above sea level. Deer, eagles, cougars, foxes, bobcats, and an occasional bear and mountain lion still inhabit this rugged terrain. A hidden gem that conjurs up what old world winemaking is suposed to be like rather than a theme park. Only open by appt. on weekdays, but the wine and the location are stunning. There are two distinct and compelling passions in our lives-Wine and Paint Horses. Both have a long and distinguished history in California. Paints are descendents of horses that arrived with the Spanish Conquistadors in the mid 1700’s. They mingled and flourished with wild native horses that roamed the western plains and deserts. Once domesticated, they were prized for their remarkable strength and beauty. Native American Tribes believed that Paint Horses possessed magical powers. The first vinefera vines in California were also planted by the Spanish. Our Sonoma Valley ranch is home to both Paints and Vines. Over 300 ancient olive trees accentuate the equestrian facilities and vineyards. The wines produced from our Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vines, grown in the Valley of the Moon, have strong character and good breeding. Both Paints and Vines are groomed and nurtured with care.

La Jota wines are handcrafted at their original 1898 fieldstone winery and hillside cave. From the low yielding vines of 28 mountain acres, La Jota produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and our crown jewel, the annual Heritage Release Cabernet Sauvignon. La Jota Vineyard was made world-famous by W.S. Keyes who founded this Howell Mountain region in the 1890s and pronounced it as the ideal source for bold, full-bodied and long aging wines. The volcanic soils of La Jota, high attitude and elevation a well as the cooler climate of this unique vineyard site has continued to yield wines of great fruit intensity, structure and aging potential. La Jota Vineyard Company continues to craft Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlots from Howell Mountain that are exceptionally bold, long-aging and full-bodied wines.
