Zinfandel

Hartford Family Winery

You walk up to this old house with gardens and fountains. There is some outdoor seating if you desire to sit and relax. Definitely on the more expensive side bottles ranging from $50-80, but the wine was wonderful. The tasting is $15, but if you buy a bottle that fee is waived so it really gives you some incentive.

Gnarly Head Cellars

At Gnarly Head it all starts in the vineyard. Our quest for outstanding Zinfandel led us down a country road into the heart of Lodi, California revealing a sea of gnarled, 35-80 year-old vines pruned in a special, mop-topped way called “head trained.” True gnarly heads, these old vines yield fewer grape clusters with smaller berries than trellised vines. These mighty little berries produce intense, bold wines that are deep in color with concentrated dark fruit flavors.

Norman Vineyards

Norman Vineyards was established in 1971 when Art and Lei Norman realized their dream of growing grapes and making wine. Art, a true pioneer, was spurred on by the memories of his father and grandfather making wine in the family home. They spent weekends scouting for the perfect site before settling on their Adelaida site in Paso Robles. Art and Lei fine-tuned their viticultural skills over they years supplying highly sought after grapes to several wineries.

Neyers Vineyards

Begun in 1992 by Bruce and Barbara Neyers, Neyers Vineyards produces about 15,000 cases of wine annually. About 25% of Neyers Vineyuards' production is Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on their 50-acre, organically farmed Conn Valley ranch. Neyers is far from the Napa Valley floor of over-run wineries. This winery requires a reservation; the reservations can be difficult to get but it is worth it. You will get a tour of their facilities and sample their high quality wines. The offering is three Chardonnays, three Syrahs, two Zinfandels, two Cabernet Sauvignons and one Merlot.
