Jim and Debbie Van Haun founded Cedar View Winery in 1999 with an emphasis on producing rare, eclectic, hard-to-find varietals. The winery's estate “flagship” grape, Alicante Bouschet, is made as a very popular award-winning red wine as well as a very rare Rosé and Port style wine.

Early in 1970, Vincenzo visited California. He was so impressed by the potential of the land that he wanted to start his first table grapes vineyards. During the nineties when Sam, his son, started getting involved in the family business, Vincenzo realized his dream was not yet complete. So, he began planting wine grape vineyards with the goal of founding his own winery in 1999. Still the dream was not complete as expressed by the winery name: Cacciatore Fine Wines & Olive Oil Corporation. At present, the Cacciatore Family farms more than 2,200 acres of prime agricultural land consisting of table grapes, wine grapes, olive trees and an exclusive nursery of premium grape varieties and rootstocks.

Eric Engleman believes that balance starts in the vineyard at LoMac Winery. For four generations the Engelman family has been growing grapes and making wine in the rich soil of the San Joaquin Valley. Today Eric is cultivating balance in their family vineyard and producing handcrafted boutique wines with vibrant varietal characters that showcase the terroir of California's center of winegrape production. At this family-operated Central Valley gem you will find some wonderful wines. We first enjoyed wines from Moravia Wines at a wine tasting conducted by Rob Bausinan who handles the outside sales for the winery. It was great to visit him at this tasting at Total Wines in Fresno, CA. Rob extended an invited to visit him at the winery to learn more about what they were doing at Moravia Wines. When I was last there Rob was on vacation but Rich Hammond, CO-Proprietor and winemaker at the winery was available and happy to share. Often people forget just how long wines have been produced in the Central Valley, since the mid-1850"s. It was wonderful experience tasting and talking with the winemaker himself. While all the wines that were poured for me were delightful the two Symphony wines came into focus. I have always enjoyed Symphony since having tasted it in Lodi some years ago. Rich has done a wonderful job with his offering of his 2018 Symphony and 2018 Dry Symphony. The 2018 Dry is produced from a grape that is a clone of Grenache Gris and Muscat Alexander and is a dry wine with a floral and peach or apricot on the nose - delightfully crisp and bright. The other Symphony is semi-sweet with 4% residual sugar.*

Andrew and Laurel Quady left crowded southern California and their jobs in pyrotechnics and merchandising to pursue their dream: a non-urban way of life making wine. Andrew graduated with a Masters in Food Science-Enology from UC Davis and Laurel became a licensed CPA. In 1975, at the urging of friend Darrell Corti, they made their first port from Amador County Zinfandel in Lodi. Today you can experience the passion of this couple that started with their first Amador County Zinfandel Port. Quady Winey is located in the Central Valley of California in Madera along the Madera Wine Trail. Joining the team in 1984 as winemaker Michael Blaylock to manage the growth in the winemaking operations that Essensia Orange Muscat and Elysium Black Muscat Dessert Wines. In the early 1900s, Cesare and Rosa Mondavi, newlyweds from Italy's Sassoferrato region, planted their roots in Minnesota. When the Prohibition Act of 1919 banned alcohol sales, Italian families were puzzled—wine was a daily essential. But a loophole allowed families to make 200 gallons of wine per year for personal use, and Cesare saw an opportunity.
He began shipping California grapes for home winemaking, quickly noticing that many came from a place called Lodi. With a keen business sense, he moved his family to California, including his young son, Robert Mondavi, and launched his own grape-shipping enterprise. Robert’s first job was hands-on, nailing crates for his father’s grapes, a start that would spark a lifelong dedication to wine.
Raised with values of hard work, Robert Mondavi embraced his calling. He studied business and chemistry at Stanford, followed by viticulture and enology at UC Berkeley, preparing him to make waves in California’s burgeoning wine industry. This early groundwork would help shape the legacy of one of California’s most revered wine pioneers.
Bret and Elainea Engelmann started Engelmann Cellars in 2000 in an old raisin shed that his grandfather built on the 200 acre family vineyard back in 1957. Together Bret and Elainea have brought wine prduction up to 3,000 cases with 85 % sold directly to winelovers in the tasting room or online.
Because we are a very small family vineyard, we farm for flavor. The flavor is also imparted from the subtle virtues of our terrior that is identifiable from our rocks and limestone. We also are now expanding to include exciting wine from local grapes which we do not grow in our own vineyard.
