Silkwood Wines began life in 1979 with a Chardonnay produced at Spring Mountain Winery in St. Helena. This Chardonnay won great reviews and was served frequently in the Reagan White House. President Reagan, Ed Meiss, Michael Dever and George Bush also served it and transported it aboard Air Force One to French, Canadian, and Mexico Summits.
Andrew and Laurel Quady left crowded southern California and their jobs in pyrotechnics and merchandising to pursue their dream: a non-urban way of life making wine. Andrew graduated with a Masters in Food Science-Enology from UC Davis and Laurel became a licensed CPA. In 1975, at the urging of friend Darrell Corti, they made their first port from Amador County Zinfandel in Lodi. Today you can experience the passion of this couple that started with their first Amador County Zinfandel Port. Quady Winey is located in the Central Valley of California in Madera along the Madera Wine Trail. Joining the team in 1984 as winemaker Michael Blaylock to manage the growth in the winemaking operations that Essensia Orange Muscat and Elysium Black Muscat Dessert Wines. Now after more than 3 decades later Michael has a lot of award-winning sweet wines to smile about and put a smile on your face as well. Founded in 1990, McManis Family Vineyards is owned and managed by Ron and Jamie McManis, fourth generation winegrowers, and is located in the rich agricultural region of the northern California interior. Currently, the family grows a wide selection of grape varieties on 2600 acres of premium vineyard land.
Legend has it, each year at the beginning of the growing season, a band of coyotes from the nearby foothills, sneak into our vineyards, and for no apparent reason other than treachery, chew on our irrigation lines with wild abandon. Following these scandalous acts, they have been known on occasion to join paws and dance around, howling at the moon in celebration.
Exceptional wines capture the depth and true essence of exceptional vineyards. The grapes are grown in the Lodi Appellation reflecting a sense of place from the character and richness of this unique terrior. The wines are hand-crafted by award-winning winemaker, JC van Staden who intertwines both old world and new world techniques. Each varietal and vintage showcases the dedication of artistry in every bottle.
Resting unobtrusively on a back road in Madera County is the home of Ficklin Tinta Port. As it was from the beginning, Ficklin's Port is widely acclaimed as one of California's finest port wines created in the Portuguese tradition.
Stone Creek Winery was started by Simon Levi, who established a general store in Temecula, California, in 1873. Five generations followed in Mr. Levi's footsteps. Weibel Family Vineyards & Winery has continued the Stone Creek legacy for high-quality wines in the premium and super-premium suggested retail price categories, building on the Levi Family reputation for excellent wines at an excellent value.
Honey Wine (Mead) is the oldest alcoholic beverage, predating beer and grape wine. Beekman & Beekman Honey Wine is made with great care. We feel the purity of the nectar source in the honey used, is directly reflected in the depth or "soul" of the wine.
River Grove Winery produces fine dry estate wine and Sparkling Wine from grapes selected out of a large vineyard. The white wines produced are Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Blanc de Blanc (Chardonnay Sparkling Wine) and soon Sauvignon Blanc will be added. The Red Wines produced are Syrah, Merlot and Sparkling Shiraz. The winery sells direct to consumers or through distributors. All wines released have medals from international tasting competition.
