Erba Mountanside Vineyards

Planted to all five Bordeaux varietals as well as Syrah, the Erba Mountainside Vineyard team has been blessed with a ‘next to perfect’ setting nestled well above the fog line. The vineyard is a twenty acre parcel consisting of fourteen blocks. Each row receives abundant sunshine through the early morning and mid-day, followed by forgiving Westerly breezes and cooling shade in the afternoon. To put it simply, each acre of Erba Mountainside wines consistently display a dark and richly complex, site specific character that you would only expect from the most seasoned wines.

EMH Vineyards

EMH’s vineyard is situated on the valley floor near Pickett Road in Calistoga, just east of the Silverado Trail. Pocketed by the Palisades Mountains to the north and Diamond Mountain to the south, the tiny vineyard of just under an acre produces outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon fruit.

Showket Vineyard

Peter Michael, a leading Sonoma County winery, is expanding into Napa. The Knights Valley producer has purchased the Showket Oakville Vineyard, a 41-acre property including a residence and 26 acres of vineyards.

Freemark Abbey

Stopped by in the Fall to do a little tasting on our way up to the hot springs. I first went to this winery about 13 years ago and was a member for years. They have excellent red wines and fun harvest parties - complete with grape stomping! It's a quaint winery away from the crowds in Napa and couple of my favorites were the 2003 Cabernet Bosche and Zinfandel.

W.H. Smith Wines

W.H. Smith makes fantastic pinot noir and they now have a tasting room in Calistoga. They make about 5 different pinots: Sonoma coast, Helenthal, Umino, Maramar, and Maritime (a proprietary blend). They also make cabernets but I think the pinots are way more to my taste.

David Fulton Winery & Vineyards

A family owned winery for over 100 years. A visit to David Fulton Winery, not only for the very good wines, but for the authentic, rustic experience that is increasingly rare in Napa Valley. Layers of complexity and deliciousness create a remarkable and amazing experience. Service was very friendly and down to earth.

Staglin Family Vineyard

Located in Rutherford, west of Hwy 29 off Bella Oaks Lane.
The tour/tasting appointment here will last about 60-90 minutes, depending on the group dynamic. Standard cave tour and sit-down tasting. You pay for what you get - pricer than other wineries, but the wines are excellent, full-bodied and rich. Family owned and run, committed to the environment. Great tasting experience.

Narsai David Estate

The culinary tour from drive-in hamburger house in Turlock, California to the most successful food show in radio history is a tale well told by Narsai David. Born to Assyrian immigrants, Narsai's story began in Chicago where he joined his family in transporting bushels of summer tomatoes and peaches home for canning. The family later moved to the central California farming community of Turlock where Narsai was called into culinary service early. Today, as Food and Wine Editor at San Francisco's KCBS radio station, Narsai broadcasts his secrets of gourmet cooking 36 times each week. Narsai was co-host of "Cook Off America," a television series highlighting regional cuisine from around the country.

Trotter 1/16 Winery

Trotter 1/16 Winery has some great wines that are very limited. Meet owner and winemaker Stephanie Trotter Zachari. Stephanie's inagural wine release are something to stand up and take notice of even though they were limited to just 36 rows. Trotter 1/16 Winery just earned Double-Golds and earned some bragging rights for her Flying J's and Oak Canon Caberbet Sauvigons both 2016's. Each of the wines earned (93pts and 98pts) respectively.  At this time you can order online or email for more information at info@116wines.com

William Harrison Wines

Willliam Harrison Winery is full of history, with a family heritage of wine making that goes back hundreds of years starting in Italy with a move to California in the early 1900s. The tasting room is quaint with some historical bottles and articles on display for you to enjoy. The wines here are solid, well balanced with nice structure. A favorite was the Estate Cabernet Franc, great finish with some some soft tannins; it was delicious.
Stop by for a piece of wine history and to enjoy some real good wine.
