Once upon a time, not so long ago, in a valley known more for cattle ranching than vineyards that the story begins. It was the Winter of 1999 when Frog's Tooth Vineyards began its life as a tadpole with the purchase of 67 acres of land in the Salt Springs Valley of Calaveras County. It slowly grew through infancy until the Spring of 2003 when it began its transition to adolescence with the planting of approximately 10 acres of premium wine grapes.

Nebil “Bilo” Zarif founded Summerland Winery in 2002 with the goal of producing premium wines from expressive vineyard sources spanning from Santa Barbara to Monterey. Denise and Layne started started their venture in viticulture and winemaking by planting a small vineyard on their property and named the vineyard after their Basset Hounds, and it is known as Fat Basset Vineyards. This little winery is a family owned business and Denise Evans and Layne McLean have been growing grapes and producing wine for seven years. A must stop if you visit or are passing through the Redding area.

Overall pretty delectable wines. Their barrel Syrah was amazing...I'm stoked to see how that one turns out. The sommeliers were all friendly and totally knew their stuff. I'd love to go back and check out their Syrah when it's released. Jon will patiently take you through the symphony of his wines - and if you're lucky, perhaps a barrel sample or 2 - and the process by which he follows.
Joe Sr. and Shirlene Barton started Grey Wolf Cellars and Barton Family Wines i 1994. Sadly Joe Jr. was tasked with the at the age of 23 with carrying on the family legacy after his father trgically passed away in 1998. Joe has made the passing years his lifes mission to carry on his father's legacy and create a distinct style, sourcing from dry-farmed vineyards in the Paso Robles Willow Creek, Templeton Gap and Adelaida District AVA's.

A simple,straight forward wine tasting experience of some of the most classic Rhone varietals to be made in California. Marsanne was refined and elegant. Viogner was excellent and Grenache was classic. Prices are good. This is a serious wine tasters place.

All of Jaffurs' wines are carefully made in small lots. Only about 3500 cases are produced each year.
