Broman Cellars

Broman Cellars is a lifelong dream realized by Bob Broman. After making wine for other folks for 31 years, Bob along with his wife Deborah, released their first Napa Valley wine, appropriately labeled, Broman Cellars. The inaugural release was 150 cases of a beautiful 1994 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, Broman Cellars is a family passion, with daughter Lisa also working side by side with Bob at the winery handling the sales, marketing and day-to-day duties. Production is now a whopping 1,300 cases consisting of ultra premium, hand-crafted lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc.

Casa Neustra Winery

Two thumbs way up for this great "mom & pop" winery! On a recent trip to the Napa Vallery we enjoyed this place. It was also the only place we purchased wine at. The grounds, super vintage feeling and all the music related decor inside is a nice touch as well.

Smith Vineyard

Try the 2008 Primativo - spicy, black pepper, complexity, a real treat. On Saturdays they have live music to go along with great wine tasting. Gary and Christina Smith continue the fine art of winemaking and vineyard tending that Gary’s father began with his three sons. Now with three sons of their own, the Smiths handcraft small lots of classic varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Primitivo, Syrah and Chardonnay from their 10 acre certified organic vineyard near Grass Valley, CA.

Kuleto Estate Family Vineyards

One of the pricier vineyards, but hands down the most beautiful. It's a little bit off the beaten path, and be sure to prepare your self for the incredibly scary drive up a single lane road with steep drop offs to the top of a mountain (large hill?).

The estate is BEAUTIFUL. Loved the tasting building and patio over looking the valley. Thought it was so cool that is a self sustaining property complete with sheep, turkeys, chicken, rabbits, horses, and the coolest vineyard dog I have ever met, Pilot!

Our guide/pourer, Drew, was really cool and informative. I was shocked by how much I liked the wines we tasted. I am typically not a huge fan of sweet wines, but their rose and muscato were super dry and fragrant.

Thumbprint Cellars

Someone here is doing something right. These wines are perfectly balanced, complex, except the Rose - it's soft and subtle and perfect in its own right and give any wine drinker a good indication of what prime location and winemaker's expertise can deliver.

Charles Creek Vineyard

A nice selection of wines for the tasting, the usual suspects from whites to reds, I think it was $5 for the tasting but free with a purchase so if you have someone in your group buying more than one bottle they will be cool enough to cut the tasting costs. The people that work there were really good about the wines and the pours as well.

Concannon Vineyard

Concannon Vineyard has a proud history of “Firsts.” Always an industry leader, Concannon is the first successful winery to be founded by an Irish immigrant. When James Concannon planted white Bordeaux cuttings in the late 1800s, we became one of the first wineries to make Bordeaux-style wines in California. In 1950, we hired the first professional, female winemaker, Katherine Vajda. In 1961, we introduced America’s First Petite Sirah, sparking a love affair with the variety.

Harvest Moon Winery

The tasting room was cozy and had a warm ambiance to it, as do most of the wineries along Olivet Road. The pourers were friendly and conversational, not too pretentious about their wines but knew just enough to make good recommendations and tasting tips. The sparkling chardonnay and sparkling gewurztraminer were both refreshingly strange and delightful.
