Monticello Vineyards

The winery is located in the middle of the valley, not too far off of Highway 29, but just enough away from the beaten path to allow you to enjoy the beauty of the wine country. The property features a beautiful bulding modeled after Jefferson's Monticello and has picnic tables to taste outside. The tasting room was not overly crowded like others we have visited. When you visit, ask for Robin Williams. She is an incredible hostess! She makes you feel welcome and made our visit special They offer a nice selection of reds and whites. The best wines are priced under $40 a bottle, which is bargain for quality wine in the Napa Valley. Monticello is definitely worth a visit.

Brewer Clifton

While winemakers at Brewer – Clinton are grounded in traditional ideals found in Europe, Steve and Greg do not feel the necessity to be fettered by them. Instead they both make great effort to be certain that the wines that they produce truly are representative of the Sta. Rita Hills. Brewer and Clinton do not strive to emulate any other producer or any other region as they follow their own pursuit. This winemaking duo has espoused themselves to the appellation and will continue to do everything to display and celebrate it in as honest and impactful manner possible – in their wines.

Heller Estate

This place was recommended by the tasting room where we were unable to have a picnic. I was so very glad that I had discovered it!! Tasting fee is $8. The wines were really good. The pourer was very friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting room was cozy and inviting with some olive oil and Meyer lemon marmalade samples. This place is also like an art gallery inside out. The picnic area in the fenced garden setting was very comfortable and we also enjoyed many interesting looking art objects. We were informed that this place is the first one of the series of wineries in the area

Bardessono Vineyards

Creator of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc from Yountville, Napa Valley.
For over 80 years, the Bardessono family has been farming grapes and providing fruit for some of Napa Valley's most prestigious producers. John Bardessono and his brother-in-law, Martin Zucco, purchased the Yountville vineyard property in 1926 with earnings from their work in an old copper mine. Eventually, the land was handed down to John's sons, Pete and Steve, who continued to farm wine grapes and sold them to prominent Napa Valley wineries for over 50 years. Again, the property was handed down to Pete's son Tom, who is the current owner and manager of Bardessono Vineyards today.

Levendi Estates Winery

Levendi Estate Winery currently makes their wines at the popular Laird Estate just south of Yountville.Levendi concentrates on 100% varietal wines with the focus being Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon; in addition they typically will not blend multiple varietals into the same wine. They make two Chardonnays - the Red Hen Vineyard from the Wente clone which is known for its very small concentrated fruit and the other from Cold Creek on the Sonoma side of Carneros. Our two favorite wines from Levendi are the Symphonia and Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons. Both are elegant wines which come from grapes that are grown in entirely different areas.

Stark Wine

Stark Wine began with the production of one small lot of Dry Creek Valley Syrah in 2003. Since then, it has grown to reflect their passion for family, community, art and sustainability.

Gregory Graham

Wines are made in the vineyard, and harvest should take place at the perfect moment – not when dictated by a schedule” is Greg’s approach to his winemaking. In the vineyard, he harvests the grapes at the peak of fruit flavor development. In the winery, he uses boutique winemaking techniques and early bottling to preserve the flavors. His techniques allow him to control the quality, bringing out the grapes’ superior characteristics. The results are excellent Zinfandel, Syrah, Grenache, Cabernet, Viognier, Sauvignon blanc, and Riesling.

Hendry Winery

Reservations are a must! Call a couple of weeks ahead of time, so you get the day and time slot you want. They only have two time slots, either 10am or 2pm. The wine tour and tasting runs about three hours (half tour, half tasting), but it's totally worth it! The winery grounds are gorgeous. Great scenic views. The tour and tasting combo is $40, but it's waived if you buy an equivalent amount of wine. Sweet! Their bottles range from about $25 to $50 depending on what you get.

The Haynes family is proud of Whitford's top notch wine making team. Since 1997, Ken Bernards, formerly with Trouchard, has been making award winning Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and since 2002, Syrah for Whitford. Ken's wife, Teresa, formerly with Domaine Carneros, ably assists. Rob Fischer joined the team in July of 2004 after receiving an enology degree from Fresno State.
