This little hidden gem is very easy to miss while whizzing past on Silverado Trail. But don't overlook this one. You won't be disappointed. Some of the best zinfandel and very good cabernet sauvignon. It is a great value wine that will hold its own against some higher priced wines. This is a very small winery with limited production and only offers a few wines. You won't find this in too many stores so you will need to make a trip out there of go on-line.

He comes from a long line of farmers and cattle ranchers, and cultivating the land with extraordinary results is nothing new to him. Besides successful efforts in many of his ventures, he also greatly enjoys donating his time and resources to those who need it.
Bovino Vineyards is an 83.5-acre property with about 45 acres planted to grapes. There are 16 different grape varieties grown on the ranch. Some, like the sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon. The different clones were selected for the characteristics each brings to the finished wine. There are 27 separate blocks with different rootstock/clone combinations in each. Add this complexity to the fact that there are three primary soil types on the property loam, silt loam, clay loam, the elevation ranges from 1,020 and 1,125 feet above sea level, and the blocks have multiple exposures and sun tracks, and it makes the winemaker glad he does not also manage the vineyard.

Another stop on the DePortola Wine Trail. I wish I had the opportunity to walk around the grounds here and check them out, but time was pressing and we had more wineries to get to. Outside there is a very large patio with a wonderful view. There was a pizza booth to purchase a snack and a live band playing. I hope to stop by again next trip to the area. A really nice, friendly atmosphere to relax. Growing classic warm weather Mediterranean varieties of grapes which include Mourvedre, Viognier, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Zinfandel and Sangiovese Brunello are keystone wines at this picturesque winery. Also included are some unique wine varietals such as Tempranillo, Primativo and our a Pinotage. I hope to meet the winemaker Stephen Andrews next time I am in Temecula Wine Country. A journey into the coastal town of Cambria, CA opened the eyes of Edgar Torres's father, a young immigrant, to a better life for his family. Sure enough, Edgar's father was right. A whole world was out there for his children to embrace. Bodega is the Spaniard term for a winery or cellar. Considering the Torres Family's Hispanic heritage and passion for Spanish wines, the brand name seemed a natural fit.
Edgar Torres's wine journey started as a waiter in Paso Robles, CA. There he was exposed to many great wine producers. Several winemakers became friends and eventually opened their doors to Edgar and his desire to learn more about wines. Like so many before him, Edgar started as a Cellar Rat and moved on to learn the many different aspects of the wine industry. Winemaker Edgar Torres and his enthusiasm for producing great wines brought him and his wife to the development of our brand, Bodega de Edgar, in 2007.

When Matt and Maureen Trevisan founded Linne Calodo in 1998, they played a pivotal role in ushering in the modern wine era in Paso Robles. By the early 2000s, Paso Robles had transformed from an unproven wine region to an unstoppable force, thanks in large part to Rhône variety blends that garnered widespread critical acclaim. Linne Calodo was at the heart of this movement, and the rest is history.
This passion for the unconventional endures at Linne Calodo. The defining characteristic of all their wines can be encapsulated in one word: intentional. Matt Trevisan is far from an absentee winery owner; he is the farmer, winemaker, cover crop sower, fix-it man, amateur electrician, and sheep herder. Every Linne Calodo wine is meticulously guided from the field to the bottle under his dedicated care.
Tom Burgess established Burgess Cellars in 1972, but these Howell Mountain slopes were first planted in the 1870s by Italian-speaking immigrants from the Swiss canton of Ticino. The Poncetta & Rossini families, in the way of their Alpine homeland, cultivated vines on the rugged mountainside at extreme elevations. With the same ambition and imagination, Lee Stewart planted Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah grapes on Howell Mountain’s steep hillsides, naming his winery Souverain, meaning “sovereign.” Subsequent Napa Valley greats also saw the high promise of the land. Before starting the historic Stag’s Leap and Grgich wineries, Warren Winiarski and Mike Grgich each learned his trade at the Estate known today as Burgess.
