Sjoeblom Winery

Crafting and producing state-of-the art wines is the undisputed mission of Sjoeblom Winery. Founded in August 2000, the winery is located in Napa, California, one of the most prestigious and progressive wine-producing regions in the world. Sjoeblom Winery's philosophy of producing first class, quality wine, is based on old-world craftsmanship, time-honoured traditions and modern, scientific practices. Sjoeblom strives for a synthesis of classic European practices, experimentation, and up-to-the-minute winemaking science.

Slaughterhouse Cellars

Margo Culcasi-Slaby & David Slaby chose to call their wine Slaughterhouse Cellars because of the dilapidated slaughterhouse that was located between the two 130 year old olive trees on the property. The slaughterhouse operated from 1884 until 1925 when the owners Salvatore and Rosi Curtoni ceased its operation, although Rosi continued to make her famous sausage to go along with her even more famous ravioli.

Sloan Estate Wines

Sloan Estate Winery is owned by Sloan Falily Winery LLC and managed by Stuart Sloan of Seattle. The winery makes approximately 300 cases of a proprietary red all from 100 percent estate grapes. The wines are sold for between $200 and $300 and all through a mailing list that is harder to get on than that for a royal wedding.
Robert Parker gave the 2002 vintage a rare 100 points.
Sloan Estate, an ultra-private winery and vineyard in Rutherford, has been sold by owner Stuart Sloan to Goldin Financial Holdings, a Hong Kong-based conglomerate, for $40 million.

According to the Sloan Estate purchase agreement and as reported in Wine Industry Insight, Goldin Financial Holdings is an investment company engaged in Japanese restaurant operations, consumer electronics, financial investments and the wine business.

“There has been an explosion of red wine consumption in Asia and Hong Kong, particularly in the high-end wines,” said Jim Carroll, general counsel for Goldin subsidiary Goldin Factoring of Fremont.

“Sloan is one of the best wines coming out of Napa Valley, and it was determined that would be a good place to start in providing more wine to the Asian culture,” he said.

Smith-Madrone Vineyards & Winery

Smith Madrone makes only three wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Riesling. In each case, the wine's mountain roots shine through. The chardonnay is leaner and tighter than most examples from the area, despite full ML and all new oak. This tightly structured wine needs time, and is built for it. The current release Cabernet is the 2006...how's that for integrity? The Smith brothers hold back their Cabs until they feel they're ready. While not a tannic monster, this wine has strong bones, to be sure, and needs time as well, though it wouldn't be out of place with a hearty red meat dish right now.

Snowden Vineyards

The Snowden family have been growing premium wine grapes since the 1950s, deciding to begin producing wine under our own name in 1993. The family vineyards are located between Rutherford and St. Helena, overlooking the valley floor from the ridge line on the eastern side of the valley.

Sodero Estate Winery

Don and Deedee Sodaro moved to southern California in 1966 from Chicago, Illinois, the city Giuseppe Sodaro had adopted as his home in America over 70 years earlier. Though the Sodaro passion for wine ran deep, it would be another thirty years before they would be able to realize their dream of starting a winery to carry on the family namesake in the New World. In 1996, their opportunity finally arrived, and so began their search for the perfect terroir. After an extensive nine month search through the central and north coasts, Don and Deedee came upon a magnificent property set among the hillsides and alluvial terraces of the south-east Napa Valley, and immediately they knew they’d found someplace special.
Gorgeous estate located in the Coombsville District, so its a close jaunt to downtown Napa. Fabulous views, and some of the best reds I have had the pleasure of tasting! A reservation is required, but definitely worth the planning to experience this romantic vineyard.

Sonador Cellars

Sonador Cellars or "dream" in Spanish is the dream of two couples who met at a charity wine and food event in Florida. Both couples, Doug and Sue Gallagher and Sergio and Maria Gonzalez-Arias live in Florida and have long nurtured their healthy enthusiasm and passion for wine. Sergio is a neurosurgeon in Miami and when both couples decided to produce a wine commercially, it was Sergio who had the initial contacts for sourcing grapes in the Napa Valley from high on Atlas Peak.

Their first vintage dates from 2001 and they produce a single wine each year. Today they source fruit from two very reputable vineyards, the historic valley floor Lewelling Vineyard located behind the St. Helena High School and a mountain vineyard - the Wurtele Block of Terra Valentine's Spring Mountain vineyards. The Lewelling Vineyard is definitely one of the older vineyards in Napa as it dates back to the mid 1860's. What is also unique is this vineyard is still owned and managed by the same family today. The Lewelling vineyard has provided fruit for some of Napa's top vintners over the years.

Spelletich Cellars

Spelletich Family Winery . started with the 1994 harvest in Napa Valley. The first wines produced by winemaker Barb Spelletich, were Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Bodog Red, a blend. With minimal intervention, the Spelletich family – Barb, Timothy, and Kristen -- rely upon its secret weapon: Barb's palate. In 2012, The Spelletich Family Wine Company is united by four brands – Spelletich Cellars, SPELLwine, 3 SPELLS, and Crush 94. Spelletich Cellars produces about 3,000 cases per year made from grapes sourced from some of the finest Napa Valley vineyards.
Kristen and Vanessa are so accommodating and helpful that it is impossible not to like what Spelletich Cellars has to offer. For a slice of the Napa Valley without any of the pretense you are likely to find in many of the Valley's high-end tasting rooms, you really couldn't do any better. Great value, great service and a personal touch drawn from years of hard work.

Spence Vineyards

Jacalyn and Allen Spence of Spence Vineyards didn’t originally set out to make wine. They were a South Bay couple that often came up to Napa Valley for weekends to relax, eventually buying a beautiful property high atop Howell Mountain in 1996. One day in 1998, at a charity auction for the Howell Mountain Elementary School, they won a winemaking kit that contained everything they needed to make 25 cases of wine. That might be enough for any couple to get hooked on winemaking but it just so happened that their neighbor on Howell Mountain was Randy Dunn – an iconic winemaker in the Napa Valley – who helped them make their first wines.

Spiriterra Vineyards

Spiriterra Winery was sold after the death of Paul Dean (Novomber 2019)

Spiriterra produces two wines from their Muscadine grapes – an almost dry wine and a sweet dessert wine. The sweet wine is called “Scuppernong”, which is a name for a Muscadine varietal that originally was found growing wild in part of North Carolina. Eventually this name has become another name for Muscadine grapes – and is associated with sweet wines from this varietal in the South East part of the United States. Their 2011 Cabernet took a Gold Medal.
