Costa de Oro Winery’s mission is to produce the finest wines from the Central Coast using the artistry of Old-World winemaking styles and New-World grape growing practices. We were driving into Santa Maria to do some wine tasting and spotted it right off the freeway. A nice tasting room, with great wine items to shop and purchase as well.

Alban Vineyards is a California wine estate producing various Rhône style blends and varietal wine. The winery is located in Edna Valley, near Arroyo Grande in the southern corner of San Luis Obispo County. Shadow Canyon is a mountain vineyard located on California's Central Coast planted to syrah and grenache. Located in the middle of the East-West corridor known as the Templeton gap, the vineyard lies at a 1,600' elevation approximately 8 miles from the ocean. The corridor allows cool marine air and fog to roll into the vineyard, which experiences daytime highs in the 80's and 90's, with nighttime lows in the 40's. This large diurnal temperature swing promotes a long growing season and balanced fruit development.

I went back and forth about stopping here. Ultimately our stop here was a last minute decision. This is Pinot only winery, if you are looking for something else, then skip it. If you're a Pinot fan however, this place is well worth a stop. Cool place to try some Pinot in Paso. Family owned and made, pretty cool. Elegant pinot noirs. A vertical type of tasting, small productions.
