Jaffurs Wine Cellars is dedicated to producing great Rhone varietal wines with a new-world independence. Our wines -Syrah, Grenache, Petite Sirah, Viognier, and Roussanne - are among the best in the county. Owner/winemaker Craig Jaffurs, produced his first professional wines during the 1994 harvest. All of Jaffurs' wines are carefully made in small lots. Only about 3500 cases are produced each year.
The Singing Winemaker is just one of the wineries at Tesla Vintners, Livermore’s First Community tasting Room and Event Facility. Steve Powell, owner, winemaker, and yes, The Singing Winemaker, can be found singing on any given Saturday or Sunday afternoon as guests taste wines from the Singing Winemaker and other wineries at Tesla Vintners in the 120+ year old farmhouse that is now a beautiful tasting room.
When you see the sign that says you have arrived at Old Edna, you are at Sextant's tasting room. A two-story tin building made to look old, they have charming grounds that are as fun for the kids as it is for the adults. Outside there is a pen of bantering goats, a fearless hen, old wood shanties, a tree house, picket fences, picnic tables, grass, and plenty of shade to sit and eat. They offer a limited menu of simple food inside and, of course, wine and a few other bottled beverages. The old time charm and novelty is certainly a draw. The tasting room is quite inviting and set up for countertop tastings or more casual small group seatings for eating and drinking, indoors and out.
Sol Rouge is a family estate vineyard and winery located in the Red Hills Appellation at elevations over 1800 feet. North of Napa Valley in the foothills of the dormant volcano which formed the North Coast wine country, this land contains rich, red volcanic soil and, from this unique profile, Sol Rouge derived its name – translating to “Red Soil” in French. This 70 acre estate is currently planted with Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Counoise, Petite Syrah, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc and will soon be planted with Cinsault. Nestled between Mt. Konocti and Benson Ridge in the Mayacamas Mountain range, this aggressive sight is all hillside with slopes up to 60% and is said to be the most tightly planted vineyard in the Red Hills, with nearly 6000 vines per hectare in some blocks.
Thomas Coyne started producing wine in 1989 under his own label. In 1994 he reopened the old "Chateau Bellevue Winery", built in 1881 by French engineer Alexander Duvall. In this historical winery you will be greeted by Tom and Emilie Coyne offering samples of their fine handcrafted wines.

Thompkin Cellars is a small family run winery located in Southern California (Costa Mesa). The vineyards for the fruit used to produce Thompkin Cellars wines are located in Los Alamos (Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Mourvedre, Estrella clone Syrah, and Petite Sirah), and Santa Ynez (Merlot, Estrella clone Syrah). Their focus is on caring for the vineyards as in their words "wine is ultimately made in the vineyard", so they take a "hands-off" approach in production while providing tender loving care to the grapes that will ultimately be used in their blended and vintage wines.
There is a style consistent here at Naggiar Vineyards & Winery from wine to wine. This tells me that they have a winemaker who knows what he is doing. There is no luck here these people have an approach to winemaking that is sustainable. The tasting room is extremely inviting and very well done. The views are more Napa like than Foothill. The odd thing is that the winery is in the middle of no where. In Grass Valley but the drive is lovely and only 20 min from Auburn.
Like a good number of California wineries Crystal Basin Cellars has its roots in amateur cooperative winemaking. Beginning under the house in 1981, Cyrstal Basin Cellars created a long string of vintages that captured fun times with friends. Steadily growing from 3 barrels to 25, Cyrstal Basin Cellars outgrew its space and was formed as a commercial winemaking operation in 2000. Since then, Crystal Basin Cellars has produced more than 10,000 cases of wine that have been eagerly devoured by their fans and the winemakers. Each vintage has won at least one Gold Medal in major competitions. with that being said may we suggest that you be sure to try the El Dorado Barbera and Cabernet Franc if you are serious about your Reds.
