Ophir Wines

OPHIR WINES is a small winery (located in Newcastle, California) producing about 1000 cases per year of fine wines from grapes OPHIR grows themselves in California's historic gold rush country. Paul and his wife, Lois have concentrated on varietals well-suited to the sun and soil of our Sierra Foothills location, predominately Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, and Petite Sirah.

From these and other varietals grown in smaller quantities, we produce a supple Syrah that shows layers of aroma and flavor, a brisk and spicy Sauvignon Blanc, a dry Rosé made from Rhône grape varieties, and a deep, dark, intense Petite Sirah. They planted five acres of Rhône varietals, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsaut and a small amount of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah.

Temecula Hills Winery

Don't overlook this small store and location. This is a great spot to go with friends for a FREE Olive oil tasting. The owner is passionate about his wines and olive oil and will take the time to talk about his passion. When you first walk in you will see a typical wine tasting area (with a wine tasting fee). Bypass that area and go toward the back right corner by the restroom. Here the owner will offer you a free olive oil and vinegar tasting using small pieces of dipping bread! These specialty oil and vinegars are reasonably priced and make great gifts. Then head back to the tasting bar.

Chateau Routon

This is a family owned business, with its beginnings in 1995. The soil on the property is mostly decomposed granite, perfect for growing grapes at an elevation above 2000 feet. Chateau Routon studied the wine industry and found a niche in port wines. Only a handful of wineries specialize in port in the foothills. Therefore, Chateau Routon chose varieties of Portuguese port and Barbera grapes, initially planting grapes on five acres.

Kunin Wines

Currently, Kunin Wines makes wines from five different grape varietals: viognier, zinfandel, syrah, grenache and mourvedre. Each varietal requires particular soil and climatic conditions to produce fruit that is of the superior quality that we demand. Therefore, we source our grapes from various vineyards, located throughout the region, to take advantage of the varying conditions and terrain and that each varietal is grown in its optimal environment.

Morse Wines

Robert Morse, the founder of MORSE WINES, purchased the estate property in 1999. His desire was to create a place where lovers of fine wine could find exceptional values in wines that best express the terroir of our region. He selected varietals that would thrive in the region, and which therefore had the best potential for producing world class wines.

Morse Wines picturesque, serene property is located near the border of Amador and El Dorado Counties. It is at approximately a 2300 foot elevation, with groves of pine trees as well as ancient oaks.

Stanton Vineyards

The Stanton family has been growing grapes in the Napa Valley since 1947. They began making their own wine in 1999. For this first vintage and the next three they used grapes exclusively from our Oakville vineyard. In addition to the Oakville property, the Stanton family owns two vineyards in St. Helena. They presently grow seven different red-wine varieties which include: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Petite Sirah and Mouvedre.

Imagery Estate Winery

They have a beautiful scenic panoramic view. The staff are very personable, knowledgeable, and always willing to be of help. The outdoor patio is perfect for these summer months. They even have horse shoes!!! Nice selection of some pretty nice wines.

Starry Night Winery

Starry Night Winery primary focus at Starry Night Winery is Zinfandel, which accounts for over 60% of their production. We think Zinfandel, which is uniquely American, is not only a great wine, but also offers a significant value.

Broc Cellars

At the tasting event, we got to try different whites and red wine varieties. Oddly, all the red wines tasted too young. The best wine was the white vine star blend wine. The flavors just juiced out. I was disappointed with this years vine star red release, having tasted the year prior. The best red wine that was poured was the carignin wine. Though to me, still a little immature, the flavor would be dead on.

Unti Vineyards

Dropped in here without an appointment, but our hostess kindly welcomed our group of four. The winery emphasizes on the Rhone varietals, including a serious syrah and grenache. They also make a pretty tasty zinfandel as well.
