Wild Horse Winery

Logo of Wild Horse Winery in Templeton California

The name Wild Horse Winery is a tribute to the herds of mustangs that once roamed the hills above the vineyards. And it is quite possibly that the owners also had in mind the Cal Poly mascot – a galloping horse ~

David Noyes Wines

David Noyes Wines is a winery in Glen Ellen, California. The winery is operated by David and Grace Noyes. David Noyes is the winemaker at David Noyes Wines. David Noyes vinifies Pinot Noir and other varietals from selected Sonoma County vineyards. West Wind Wines & Caves

West Wind Wines has the only wine cave in Marin County. It took two years to get the permits and two months to build the cave. It is kept at 55 degrees year around to keep the wine in the barrels cool and humid. Inside the cave at an “aroma table”, owner and winemaker Cynthia Klock encourages guests to sniff a hand full of cloves, sniff the wine and then take a sip. The scent will bring out the distinctive essences of cloves in the wine. She also has separate glasses with bits of chocolate, oak, herbs, leather, vanilla and pepper to illustrate the different characteristics in other wines. For example, a sniff of vanilla brings out that unique nature in the Muscat Canelli.

Orfila Vineyards

Located approximately 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean, the vineyard estate is blessed with cooling coastal breezes that produce exceptional grapes. Located in the smallest American Viticulture Area (AVA) in the state, Orfila wines have put San Diego on the international wine map. Orfila Vineyards & Winery is an award-winning boutique winery nestled in the pristine San Pasqual Valley agricultural preserve, approximately 30 minutes north of San Diego, just 5 minutes off the I-15, on the way to the Wild Animal Park.

Madrona Vineyards

Out back winery in the Apple Hill Area has a large following. The wines are unpretentious and you will likely enjoy their Zinfandels and Syrahs. You will find that the taste of the wine does very considerably year to year, however, they have all been good and at the price point.

Brassfield Estate Winery & Vineyards

At the top of High Valley AVA in Lake County, CA lives an Estate and winery unlike any other. Planted at an altitude matched by only 1% of vineyards in the world, Brassfield Estate Vineyards & Winery is not bound by the traditions of the valley floor. Precision, sustainable farming is our base to craft 17 varietals; from vine to bottle the wines never leave our hands. We go above and beyond; for the land we reside on, the animals we share it with, the people who join us, and of course our award-winning wines.

Farella Vineyard

I almost didn't want to write a review. I'm afraid that it might get too popular. His wine is excellent, and the setting was beautiful. You need to call ahead and make a reservation, but I'll tell you it's definitely worth it to make a stop here. It's hard to see the sign from the road, but as you drive up the path to the winery, you suddenly realize how tranquil and private the experience will be. If you want a true Napa experience, stop by Farella's and you'll spend a couple hours enjoying great wine and great stories.
